You do, if you are a U.S. citizen and resident of Indiana, and

• Are at least 18 on or before the election, and
• Have lived in your voting precinct at least 30 days before the election, and 
• Are not currently in prison, convicted of a crime, and
• Are registered to vote (before the deadline).

You can register at any time, but to vote in an election, you must be registered by the election deadline (April 8 for the 2022 primaries; October 7 for the general election).

• Go to indianavoters.in.gov, scroll to Register to Vote, and click "Apply Now," or
• Register in person at Election Central (call 812-349-2690 to make an appointment), or
• Call the IN Secretary of State’s office (866-461-8683), or
• Register at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. 

It's always good to check your registration one month before any election.

• Go to indianavoters.in.gov, scroll to Check Voting Status, and click "Check Your Registration Record,"  or
• Call the Monroe County Clerk's office (812-349-2614), or
• Call the IN Secretary of State’s office (866-461-8683).
• When checking your voter registration:
• Make sure your street address (and mailing address if different) is correct.
• Make sure your name conforms to your state-issued ID.
• Make sure your registration is current. 
• Submit updates if you have moved or changed your name.
• Military and overseas: see forms and deadlines. 

• Know your precinct: Go to indianavoters.in.gov, scroll to Visit My Voter Portal, and click on the button. After you enter the requested information, you'll see your precinct in the upper left corner. You'll also see voting times and locations and other information.
• Know your election slate: Get a sample ballot from Election Central. Go to Monroe County Voter Registration, click on the Sample Ballots link, and use your party and precinct number to find your ballot. Print and take with you to the polls!
• Know your candidates:
• Go to vote411/ballot, enter the requested information, and click Submit. Click Go To My Races to view questions to candidates and their responses in their own words. Mark your choices on your sample ballot!
• Attend candidate forums, if available, or listen to forum recordings. Click here for the forum webpage.

• Register to vote or update changes in your name or address by April 8. 
• Determine your election slate using the Monroe County sample ballot:
• Go to Monroe County Voter Registration.
• Click on the Sample Ballots link and use your party and precinct to find your ballot.
• Print and take with you to the polls.
• Plan how you vote:
• Early in person: Election Operations, Main Room, 302 S. Walnut, Bloomington; from April 9 until noon on May 3. Check daily hours at indianavoters.in.gov or call Election Central (812-349-2690). This location is different from previous years.
• Absentee by mail: Vote by Mail absentee ballot application must be received by April 25.
• In person on election day: May 7, 6 am to 6 pm. Check poll locations at indianavoters.in.gov or call Election Central (812-349-2690).
• Traveling board: If you are homebound or ill, apply by noon May 6. 

• Register to vote or update changes in your name or address by October 7.
• Determine your election slate using the Monroe County sample ballot:
• Go to Election Central.
• At the bottom of the page, click on Sample Ballots and click on your precinct number.
• Print and take with you to the polls.
• Plan how you vote:
• Early in person: October 8 to noon on November 4. Poll locations vary. Check hours and poll locations at indianavoters.in.gov or call Election Central (812-349-2690).
• Absentee by mail: Vote by Mail absentee ballot application must be received by October 24.
• In person on election day: November 5, 6 am to 6 pm. Check poll locations at indianavoters.in.gov or call Election Central (812-349-2690).
• Traveling board: If you are homebound or ill, apply by noon on November 4. 

• You must go to your designated polling place and be in line to vote before closing time.
• You must present an ID with your name and photo. Photo ID must meet four criteria: 
• Display the voter’s photo, and
• Display the voter’s name (must conform with the voter registration record), and
• Display an expiration date and either be current or have expired sometime after the date of the last General Election (November 8, 2022), and
• Be issued by the State of Indiana or the U.S. government (including some Indiana schools). 

• Your Vote by Mail ballot application must be received online or in the clerk's/election office by April 25 for the primary; October 24 for the general election.
• To obtain an application, go to indianavoters.in.gov, scroll Vote By Mail or Traveling Board, and click Apply Online/Get Forms. Scroll to Absentee Ballot Forms. Click on ABS-MAIL: Application for Absentee Ballot and the form will be downloaded. The form contains the complete list of reasons a voter may vote by mail, including: 
• If you can’t get to your polling place between 6 am and 6 pm on election day, or
• If you are 65 or older, or
• If you are disabled.

• If disabled, homebound, or ill, you may request the traveling board to come to your home instead of voting by mail.
• Contact Election Central (812-349-2690) to apply for voting via traveling board.
• Deadline to apply for the primary is noon on May 6.
• Deadline to apply for the general election is noon on November 4.
